Anxiety and Depression

You are not alone

Picture
Anxiety affects 40 million adults in the United States age 18 and older while it is estimated that nearly 17 million adults in the United States have had at least one episode of depression within the past year. (Anxiety and Depression Association of America, 2019).

If you are struggling with anxiety and/or depression, YOU ARE NOT ALONE!!

When we look at the statistics around anxiety and depression it’s no wonder that the bulk of my experience within the field of clinical social work has included working with individuals who are battling some form of anxiety and/or depression.

Why is there such a prevalence of anxiety and depression? I think it is the result of many factors including, but not limited to:
- more openness and dialogue around formerly stigmatized topics like anxiety and depression
- a more fast-paced lifestyle with increased financial stresses
- genetic links to anxiety and depression from previous generations

If you feel you may be experiencing some signs of anxiety and/or depression, one of the best things you can do is to get yourself into counseling. Counseling sessions will help you to understand your anxiety and depression, what has caused them, their prognosis, and how to better manage your symptoms so that you can get on with living your best life.

You deserve to live a life without the weight of anxiety and depression!
